8th November - The Invention of Angela Carter with Edmund Gordon + The Old Vic
Posted 21:34, 8 November 2018
This year for the Lit Fest we've teamed up with the Old Vic to offer you a great double bill.
On 8th November we will have Edmund Gordon in store, author of the award winning biography; The Invention of Angela Carter. He'll be discussing her life and enduring legacy and in addition The Old Vic has offered a limited number of discounted tickets to Review customers to see Wise Children before the run ends.
Edmund Gordon is a writer, critic and lecturer in literature and creative writing at King's College, London. The Invention of Angela Carter: A Biography won the Somerset Maugham Award and the Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize, and was selected as a Book of the Year in the Guardian, Observer, Financial Times, Spectator, Daily Telegraph and Sunday Times. In 2018 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
Wise Children was Angela Carters final novel and is set in South London. Bawdy, surreal and hilarious it charts the lives and of Dora and Nora Chance and their theatrical family. It has been adapted for the stage by the amazing Emma Rice and is her first post globe show. We're very excited.
