If you have ever visited my shop you will know that I have no truck with misery memoirs, kiss-and-tells, and celebrity prattle.

Kampusch's account of her abduction and eight year imprisonment is shocking but also life affirming. Out of this horror has emerged a remarkable young woman. If proof were ever needed that literature can give a girl backbone then this is it. Books were her companions and their characters her mentors. If you are interested in the human psyche then this is one to read.
